Remember that messy dressing room....

Remember when I showed you my awfully messy dressing room ...

Um well it got in a mess again - a BIG one. It was actually really getting me down and then my hubby came to the rescue and helped with my big problem; STORAGE! He produced two huge chests of drawers... and now I am in there using it again -YAY! :D Cheers Hub!

Here's it all piled high ready to be tidied...

So much mess!!

And now some order is restored....

The shoe storage is still a problem but I am not sure what I can do with 300 + pairs :S

I love my dressing room, I am a lucky lady! :)

Hot and happy after a photoshoot in the big smoke...

So I have expressed on this blog my general dislike for having my photo taken. Something I am trying to get over... I am generally body confident and happy with how I look and I encourage all friends, family, random people I meet to express themselves how they want to with clothes etc and feel equally confident! I am a very firm believer that we come in all shapes and sizes and this should be celebrated!! ... so why am I over critical of my own pics??

Anyways, being in the spotlight for the wedding has forced me to get over it a bit but then I put myself forward for a project involving a proper photo shoot and was selected to participate... I went to London and completed said photo shoot today. I am not allowed to give any details at this stage but of course I will bore you with the pics when they arrive!! ;)

I apologise for these pics my hair and make-up was a little dishevelled at this point!

I thoroughly enjoyed getting my make-up done by a professional and they left my hair as it was as they liked the way I had done it!! #smugface :D

The only downside of the day was the heat... boy was it hot hot hot! we are finally getting a bit of summer in the UK.

I couldn't wait to strip down to my lovely vintage 50s slip! 50p jumble sale bargain1

I also came home to my new radio!!  Yay! Its just a cheap replica but its very cute. Its to leave on for our German Shepherd when we are out - she suffers from separation anxiety and tends to chew!

This little man has been enjoying the sun! :D

Hope you've all had a good day, my Mondays are not usually this good!

XOXO

Sunshine on a rainy day...

Hello!!

So I have been a little down in the dumps. Too much work and not enough play at the minute, topped off with lots of grey wet days and a stomach bug.

So this weekend I injected a little sunshine into my life...

Dress: 1950's shirtwaister from eBay. This is a lovely Orange, Yellow and Grey check. Back to my bad photography as my fella was on his stag do (he now has no hair, eyebrows or voice!!)
Fur trimmed rain boots - Jumble sale
Floral belt: New Look
Necklaces - Jumble sale

Here's a better shot of the pattern. I am so in love with this dress! So summery and comfortable. I struggle to get shirtwaisters that are broad enough in the back but small enough in the waist.

Necklaces were 50p each from jumble sale, I may have bought a few hehe!

Little poodle was a present from my lovely mum!

Here is my new (for me, not quite sure of age) rain boots. They are brown but look darker in this pic. They have a lovely fur trim; practical and pretty! :) £3 from jumble sale. I could not pay fast enough. I have been looking for posh rain boots for soooo long!!

Well here's a little mug shot.
I had forgotten that my lovely friend who is now a carer had trained to be a hairdresser originally. In exchange for some Mexican grub she cut some layers in my hair and I have nice curls again! :) I couldn't quite pluck up the courage to cut them myself.

Here's me then having to cover up to go and face gale force winds and rain!

Headscarf: Vintage from eBay
Coat: Vintage from eBay

And here's a lovely tablecloth and crochet mat I got from jumble sale. Topped off with summery Elvis mats and yellow roses.

So I had a little colour in a very grey weekend.

Hope you are all well! Welcome new followers, there have been a few lately so ahoy, welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy my ramblings and poor photography, haha!

Confessions of a Vintage Loving Librarian...

I am an extremely organised, list writing, colour coordinating labels, files and folder loving librarian. But I have a deep dark secret... there is a little part of my life which regularly descends into chaos... I just can't seem to keep it organised...

Welcome to my Powder Room...

I am a very lucky girl who is fortunate enough to have a whole room for all my lovely clothes and shoes and little vintage knick knacks. But despite having a very large room I still can't seem to fit it all in... at the start of the year I was a little stressed and it all started to go a little downhill...

 EEEEKKKK!!!

SHOCK HORROR!!!

After nearly breaking my neck wading through the mountains of stuff  I decided enough was enough and got doing some serious sorting. I have now got a room which is almost tidy and I can actually get dressed in there now! Its lovely to be able to find things again! :)

I still need to work out better shoe storage, at the moment they are in the hideous green tubs! But I am getting there.

Welcome to the Vintage Loving Librarians Dressing/Powder Room....

Spring/Summer clothes on the rails, autumn/winter are vac packed and safely tucked away!
 Art Deco dressing table.
 Vase of hair flowers.
Lots and lots of lovely vintage bags.
 Hats, hats, hats!
 Knick knack shelf.
 Vintage suitcases full of accessories.
HIDEOUS green boxes but full of BEAUTIFUL shoes!
Drawers and vintage radio.

All this is stopped off with lots and lots of Audrey Hepburn pictures and one of Marilyn!

I just have a small mountain of stuff to list on Ebay now! :)

Well that's Monday done - Hoorah!

Have a lovely week! xx

Some things that are making me smile...

A little cocktail hat I made... you can't beat bows or cherries!!

Good hair days - My hair is finally a good length. I cut it very short over two years ago; my hair is so slow to grow!
My new stole. I hope I don't offend anyone with this as it is real fur. I would like to clarify that I do not advocate killing animals for fur and take animal welfare very seriously. I agonised over vintage fur for a long time; my personal view is that in the 40's (date of my stole) things were different, fur was acceptable. I can't change that. I would rather wear this piece of history than let it go to waste. I have modern fur - ALL FAKE!!
Winter clothes!!
Pussy bow blouse - charity/thrift shop
Stole - Ebay
Wool skirt - jumble sale
Belt - charity/thrift shop
Shoes - primark (I do like modern shoes. I love vintage shoes but find it hard to find my size and often don't like how scruffy they are! I like things neat and coordinated; I'm a librarian!!)
Flying Ducks - I have a mid-century modern style in my living room and it would not be complete with out flying ducks! The ducks were from http://www.dotcomgiftshop.co.uk/
I am a very lucky lady as I have a dressing room. Here are my autumn/winter clothes... needs a bit of a tidy!!
What's making you smile today?? :)
